Rankings
In the QS World University Rankings 2026, five Omani institutions were ranked: SQU at 334th in the world, the University of Nizwa (761–770), Dhofar University (851–900), Sohar University (951–1000) and GUtech (1001–1200).
Language and admission
Many programmes, especially in engineering, business, IT and medicine, are taught in English, often after a foundation year. Public universities mainly admit Omani students; international students usually study at private universities, which set their own fees and entry requirements.
Student life
Campuses are modern and safe. Living costs are moderate compared with other Gulf countries, and student residence permits are issued through the university.

Good to know
Programmes, admission rules and fees change every year. Check the institution's official website before you apply, and confirm that any degree you plan to use abroad is recognised there.
