Indian schools in Oman
Oman's large network of Indian schools following the CBSE curriculum: how they work, fees and admissions.
2026-10-19
Oman has one of the largest Indian communities in the Gulf, and a network of Indian community schools serves it across the country, in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah, Nizwa, Sur, Ibri and other towns.
Curriculum
Most Indian schools follow the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) curriculum, with board exams in grades 10 and 12. Indian School Muscat, founded in the 1970s, is the oldest and largest.
Fees
Community schools are among the most affordable in Oman, generally about OMR 800 to 2,500 per year.
Admissions
Places are allocated through a central online admission process for many Indian schools in Muscat. Families of other nationalities can also apply.
Good to know
Fees are indicative and change every year. Confirm current fees, places and admission rules directly with the school, and apply early: good schools in Muscat often have waiting lists.
Living nearby
For families, the school or university run is a big part of choosing where to live. R2LUX sells homes in communities where foreigners can own; three current listings are below.
