University of Nizwa

The University of Nizwa is a private, non-profit university founded in 2004, with its campus near Birkat Al Mouz outside Nizwa, at the foot of Jebel Akhdar.

Colleges

Arts and sciences, economics and management, engineering and architecture, pharmacy and nursing, law and education, with research centres in areas such as natural products and heritage.

Ranking

It was ranked in the 761–770 band of the QS World University Rankings 2026, second in Oman after SQU.

Life in Nizwa

Nizwa is a historic city with a famous fort and souq, about an hour and a half from Muscat. Living costs are lower than in the capital.
